Hundreds of striking blue marine creatures known as Velella velella, or “by-the-wind sailors,” have washed ashore along parts of the Welsh coastline. Closely related to the Portuguese man o’ war, the delicate hydrozoans were spotted on beaches across Anglesey, Gwynedd and Tenby. Experts described them as beautiful but warned the public not to handle them due to their stinging cells. The unusual sight has attracted attention from beachgoers and marine enthusiasts alike. #Wales #MarineLife #Nature
